Sol Gitana means ‘Sun Gypsy.' This romantic name sums up the music played by the duo. The music comes from warm climates and reflects the wandering spirit traveling through countries where music is joyful, alive and vibrant.

Jeff Lauffer and Jimmy Peggie have been playing music together in various formations for ten years. During that time they have wrote and recorded music for three CDs by Subterranean Jazz and appeared on the CDs of many others. Their music has been played on the radio in Europe and Central America as well as in the USA.

In the local music environment they have played countless performances, appeared many times on local television shows, been interviewed live on KJZZ radio, and featured in local music stories in newspapers and magazines.

Latin and Brazilian music has been at the core of all their musical adventures. This is where the idea for forming Sol Gitana came about. The combination of the guitar and bass are superbly fitted for this type of music. They found that audiences were very responsive to their sound.

Both Jeff and Jimmy are dedicated to researching and exploring new music to play. They both love to travel and get a feel for different cultures and music. Their travels have helped them to gain a greater understanding of music and it’s place in society.
